These pictures of sea eagles were taken last spring when the birds first visited our shores. Sea eagles are sighted in Belgium from time to time, but Europe’s largest bird of prey doesn’t usually breed here. A couple of birds have now settled in a nature area in Diksmuide (West Flanders) called De Blankaert. The birds that have a wingspan of 2 metres have clearly taken to Flemish climes, have built a nest and are expected to breed here for a first time.
