More than 2.8 million vaccines are available for use in Flanders and almost 1.9 million doses have been ordered by general practitioners and pharmacists.
So far, the lion’s share (535,138) of the vaccines administered in Flanders this autumn were administered by general practitioners, 250,527 have been administered by pharmacists, while 74,297 vaccines have been administered at residential care centres. Several tens of thousands of vaccines have also been delivered to hospitals and other institutions that provide care.
Vaccination against coronavirus is recommended for all people aged 65 and over, people with weakened immune systems or that suffer from certain medical conditions, pregnant women and healthcare workers. This represents a total of around 2 million people in Flanders.
