Record number of passengers using Antwerp Airport

Antwerp Airport welcomed a record number of passengers this summer. In a statement released on Wednesday morning, the airport that is located in the Deurne district of the city said that in July, August and September there were a total of  101,256 passengers that used the airport. This is up 0.2% on the same period during the last pre-corona year 2019.

The increase is said to be mainly thanks to increased capacity and new destinations offered by the airline TUI fly. In addition to this there has also been a sizable 8.6% increase in the number of business jet flights to and from Deurne compared with 2019.

Antwerp Airport's CEO Eric Dumas told journalists that "September was the best month ever at the airport with 35,407 passengers. This is a testament to all the hard work and the unwavering belief in our airport.”
