Workers at the Audi factory in the Brussels municipality of Vorst have returned to work today (Tuesday). On Monday the morning shift failed to clock on admid fears about an announcement that was due to be made at an extraordinary meeting of the factory’s Works Council. The afternoon shift also didn’t report for work on Monday after management announced that production of the electric Q4 car that was due to start at the factory next month would be put on hold for the time being.

Production lines rolling again at Audi Brussels
Published:
On Tuesday morning Audi Brussels’ spokesman Peter D'hoore told journalists that the production line is now rolling again. The decision to put the start of production of the Q4 at Audi Brussels on the backburner for the time being will have no impact on employment at the plant, where the Q8 e-tron is also produced.
Nevertheless, according to the unions, the staff at the factory are worried. The longer-term consequences for the plant are unclear. More should become clear about the production schedule for the QS4 in mid-November.
Audi Brussels currently employs 3,000 people on permanent contracts and around 500 temporary staff.
