The premier of a new theatre show aimed especially at people that are learning Dutch premiered at Antwerp’s Oud Badzaal Theatre on Tuesday morning. During the coming year the show that is entitled “Oh Dierbaar België” will be performed at theatres and cultural centres across Flanders. There will also be a performance at the Sint-Gorikshallen in Brussels on 23 November and next June at the Ferme de Bliéreau in the Walloon Brabant town of Louvain-la-Neuve.
Learning a new language is never easy and the music group Lennaert & De Bonski’s hope that their show will help the many thousands of people that are learning Dutch.
A total of 27 performances are planned between now and the end of September next year. The first performance played to a sell out crowd at the Oude Badhuis Theatre in Antwerp on Tuesday morning.
Audience participation is encouraged during the show. All of the song texts are projected onto a screen behind the performers so that the audience can sing along. This was certainly the case among the 150-strong audience in Antwerp on Tuesday morning.
