A 42-year old man has died in an accident on the E34 motorway at Zoersel in Antwerp Province. The Federal Police has confirmed that the dead man was the driver of the vehicle that crashed. Two passengers that were with him inside the car sustained slight injuries. No other vehicles were involved.

Motorist killed in fatal motorway smash

The accident happened at around 1:30am on Friday on the Turnhout (Antwerp Province)- bound carriageway of the E34. For reasons that are as yet unknown the car veered of the road. Those inside the car were trapped and had to be freed by the emergency services.
The accident caused the closure of the Turnhout-bound E34 for several hours. The motorway reopened to traffic at around 5am.
