Thanks to financial support from the City of Halle in Flemish Brabant 28-year-old Kenny Van Damme is being given the opportunity to open a Rage Room. Rage Rooms are all the rage in Flanders. Kenny’s Rage Room includes a bar but also a separate enclosed space where you can hurl an axe at whatever you like in all safety. If anything gets damaged it’s not a problem!
Rage Rooms have already opened in Ghent, Brussels and Leuven. “In these days of increased stress people are looking for new ways to work off their aggression. Here they can throw an axe at whatever they like. We supply the protective equipment” explains Kenny.
The young entrepreneur has already appealed to locals to donate glass bottles as well as small pieces of furniture that can be destroyed at will. There’s no longer any need to head to the recycle park, he tells the good folk of Halle.
In Kenny’s Rage Room protective wooden boarding has been placed against the walls. The Rage Room has been insulated too to ensure the neighbours are not disturbed. To ensure none of the visitors end up flinging an axe through the bar the violent activity is restricted to a special cage. Punters who fail to be enticed by the axe hurling can partake in a game of darts or pool.
Kenny is a beneficiary of a new project aimed at rejuvenating the Halle High Street and is so pleased he is now able to realise his dream. In 2016 he lost a foot due to a serious accident. He has now learned to walk again using a prosthetic foot and is keen to show that people with a handicap can achieve anything if they put their mind to it!
