The Montblanc pen had been laid out for the royals when King Filip and Queen Mathilde visited in order to sign the visitors’ book, but in the event the king and queen used their own pen to sign.  After their visit it emerged that the Montblanc had disappeared without a trace.  Montblancs can cost up to several hundred euros.

The care home has asked anybody who has seen the missing pen to come forward with information.  It’s unclear whether the pen has been stolen or simply mislaid.
